The Emery County Aquatic Center recently held a Lifeguard Certification class.

The instruction was done under the direction of lifeguard instructor Marilyn Collard and assisted by Spencer Fauver and Colton Clement.

Eleven students took part in the 36 hour course. All students have to be a minimum of 16 years of age to become certified. During the class students were certified in lifeguard, CPR, first aid, and AED(automated external defibrillator). The certification lasts for two years.

Collard said each year they certify about 10 new students to replace those that will graduate and move on to other endeavors.
