Here is a brief synopsis of U-DOT road construction around the Castle Country region.
US-89 & SR-116, Mt Pleasant State and Main: Construction begins Monday, July 15. Crews are performing soft spot repair, pedestrian ramp reconstruction where designated and lowering manholes. There is some shouldering work at the North end of State Street. Expect intermittent lane closures on State and Main street. One lane will remain open in each direction.
US-6 MP228 to Utah RR Overpass: Construction begins at MP228. Crews are performing lane leveling operations. There is one-way alternating traffic with a pilot car for the next couple of days. Next week crews will be performing guardrail improvements. This will be single lane closure for a week. The week of August 9 chip seal operations will begin.
US-6 Tucker to Soldier Summit: Paving operations are complete. All lanes are open. The first coat of pavement marking paint has been applied. Crews will return in 3 weeks to add the final coat of pavement marking paint. New asphalt pavement will provide a smoother ride and prolong the life of the road.
I-70 Belknap to Sigurd: Construction began Monday, July 8 near Fremont Indian State Park. There will be intermittent Eastbound and Westbound outside lane closures near MP 17 and progressing toward MP 48.
I-70 Sinbad to Brake Test: New rumble strips and flush coating are complete throughout the project. Lane closures for East and Westbound travel will be minimal. The first coat of pavement marking paint has been applied and crews will return in 30 days to apply the final coat.
I-70 MP 154.30 to 175.81: All lanes are open in each direction through the construction zone. Watch for personnel in the area and obey the 65 mph speed limit. Chip seal operations begin July 15. During the Chip seal procedure there will be lane closures as necessary to complete the work.
