Coming of a 3-1 loss to Payson on Wednesday, the Carbon Dinos sought a win against visiting Richfield on Friday. Ryan Atwood, Jamin Jensen and Andrew Williams all proved crucial for the Dinos as they secured a region win over visiting Richfield, 2-0.
Atwood found the back of the net first for Carbon, giving the team a 1-0 lead at the half. The Dinos got plenty of shots on goal throughout the rest of the game with Jensen connecting with the net in the second.
“Ryan Atwood put the Dinos in the lead with a goal in the first half of the match as he slipped the ball past the goalie after receiving a pass from Jamin Jensen,” head coach Chad Cowdell said. “Jamin helped secure the win with a goal late in the second half of the match from about 18 yards out. Sam Loveland was credited with the assist as he set Jamin up for the shot.”
Williams protected the goal for the Dinos and recorded the shutout.
“Thank you to all of the students and fans that attended the soccer match last Friday afternoon,” Cowdell said. “The boy’s soccer team appreciates your support.
Carbon will next take on Juab at a home matchup on Wednesday. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. The team will then host Bear River for a non-region game at 12 p.m. on Thursday.
